Oatmeal, TX

I love small towns out in the country, away from everything. That’s Oatmeal, hidden next to Bertram. My sweet Aunt Cathleen and her family live there on a beautiful piece of property that they’ve built up.

When I was little my Aunt would watch me. I remember her house smelled like Michael’s Craft Store, she had shelves full of paints and craft tools. I think Pinterest got its inspiration from her. She’s so crafty and can whip anything up from nothing. She’s absolutely beautiful inside and out and I love visiting with her.

Cathleen is funny, sweet, caring, patient and selfless. She’s always doing things for everyone else, from her family to helping people she doesn’t even know. So her garden and her house have been something she can do for herself. It’s like a treasure chest walking up to her home, you’ll never know what you’ll find. Here’s several snapshots I took today, I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Our first stop was at the chicken coop. Hung from it was a cute little wreath decorated with shutters that held 10 chickens inside.

Here’s a pic of Avery meeting the chickens.

Cathleen’s fence was made from collected pallets.

And then we journeyed to Glenna’s Garden (Glenna is Cathleen’s nickname from a little one).
